Travelling with a vehicle

Bicycle, moped or scooter
You can take your bicycle, moped or scooter on board. You can easily buy a ticket online or at the counter in the terminal in Holwert. Then take your bicycle, moped or scooter to the designated bicycle waiting area. Follow the signs for cyclists.
You can also take one or more bicycles on top of or behind your car or other vehicle. When making your reservation, indicate whether you are carrying bicycles on the roof or on a bicycle rack at the rear of your vehicle. For a bicycle rack at the rear of your vehicle, you pay the bicycle rack fare, not per bicycle. There is no additional charge for bicycles on the roof, as they do not take up any extra space on the vehicle deck.
Motorcycle
Do you travel by motorcycle? You can easily order a ticket for the motorcycle online. You check in at the car desk in Holwert.
Car or other vehicle
Simply book your car or other vehicle online or by telephone. It is not compulsory to make a reservation for your vehicle, but doing so will secure you a place on board. We recommend doing this when booking your accommodation on the island.
Please remember to have your registration number and customer number (if you have one) on hand when making a reservation. You can check in at the car desk in Holwert up to 30 minutes before departure. On your return journey, please check in at the counter in the Nes terminal at least 30 minutes before departure.
Is your outward journey to Ameland on the last crossing at 19:45 between 1 April and 30 September? If so, you’ll pay the standard fare for a car or van (up to 5.5 metres). Read the terms and conditions here.
We only transport vehicles that are accompanied by the driver.
Trailer or caravan
We only transport trailers and caravans in combination with towing vehicles. Please report this to us when making the reservation for your car. Please also specify the length of the car and the dimensions of the trailer or caravan, including the tow bar. Mobile homes must be transported on a trailer.
Are you planning your outward journey on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between April 1st and September 30th? You’ll only pay the basic rate for the caravan or trailer. On public holidays, you’ll be required to pay the summer rate.
