Travelling with a vehicle

Take your bicycle

You can take your own bicycle on board. Buy your tickets online or at the desk in the terminal. After that, simply take your bicycle to assembly point for bicyles.

Car or other vehicle

Schiermonnikoog is a car-free island. For this reason, you are only permitted to take a car, motorcycle or moped with a certificate of exemption from the Schiermonnikoog municipality.

It is not compulsory to make a reservation for your vehicle, but doing so will secure you a place on board.
Simply book your vehicle online. We recommend doing this when booking your accommodation on the island.
Please check in at the car desk in the terminal at Lauwersoog at least half an hour before departure.
On your return journey, please check in with our employees at Schiermonnikoog Terminal no later than half an hour before departure.

Caravan or trailer

We can take light trailers on board without a car if you tow them on and off by yourself. You can use a pull-dolly for this purpose: please talk to our staff who can inform you.

You can book the trailer in advance online and by telephone.
We will need the registration number of your trailer and your customer number (if you have one).

No caravans are allowed on Schiermonnikoog.
Trailer tents with a cloth roof are allowed. You can reserve the crossing with your trailer tent in advance.
